At rapeseed, the first attack observed was caused by Turnip flea beetle (Phyllotreta atra). Usually in autumn it begins the attacks but it continued later on when the plants were well developed. On undeveloped plant areas an early attack can damage the whole crop definitely.
The most dangerous rape pest in this period – Cabbage seed weevil (Ceutorhynchus napi) was and still is present in rape fields, the produced attack will have visible effects next year, and damage is directly proportional with attack intensity and lack of treatments. In some cases the crop could be compromised.
React immediately at weevil appearance with control treatments for adult insects because if they’ve time to lay eggs, the harm is all ready done. Larva will start to feed and to destroy the stem from inside. For this reason, cabbage seed weevil treatment has a preventive, prophylactic nature because after laying eggs there’s no control method for this pest.
First of all, there had been attacked early sowed areas, those who were recommended by us to be monitored. In this moment there are still adult insects in rape fields, but the worse thing is larva that had started to consume and destroy the stems from inside.
