In our previous newsletters, issues no. 3 from 6 November 2009 and no. 4 from 19 November 2009 we made the recommendation – especially on favorable weather conditions – for a periodical field monitoring of rapeseed, barley and wheat, particularly on early sowed fields, to detect the pests and to apply immediately the recommended treatments for each crop.
Because it was warm weather for this period, insects attack for autumn sowed crops has occurred, on some areas his intensity is still high depending zone to zone.
Unfortunately this thing was possible because on wide uncontrolled areas the attacks haven’t been detected on time, the treatments weren’t applied which makes the next year level of yield to be lower on some areas and on other areas the crops would be compromised.
The most dangerous rape pest in this period – Cabbage seed weevil (Ceuthorynchus napi) (photo) was and still is present in rape fields, the produced attack will have visible effects next year, damage is directly proportional with attack intensity and lack of treatments. In some cases the crop could be compromised.
